Calvin Watkins of dallasnews.com Report Card
RUN OFFENSE | |
C | The Cowboys rushed for a season-low 72 yards and averaged 2.9 yards per carry. They couldn't run the clock out down the stretch, which allowed Washington one more crack at the end zone. Julius Jones had his second-lowest output of the season with 27 yards on nine carries. We agree with the C grade the running game was running in mud. |
PASS OFFENSE | |
B | Tony Romo was hit a few times and sacked once, but his QB rating was 124.1. Romo completed passes to six receivers. Terrell Owens had 173 receiving yards with four TDs. Center Andre Gurode had three bad snaps, one that led to Romo throwing a jump ball to Owens that resulted in an interception. B come on man 4 td passes completed passes to 6 receivers Our Grade A- |
RUN DEFENSE | |
A | Washington had the eighth-best run offense in the NFL and was held to 62 yards rushing on 3.6 yards per carry. Clinton Portis, second in the NFC in rushing, wasn't a factor. He had 36 yards rushing on 12 carries. Portis' longest run was for six yards. Dallas did a great job at attacking ball carriers. A agreed Shutting down Portis was huge. |
PASS DEFENSE | |
C | Jason Campbell showed off his strong arm by throwing for 348 yards. Dallas had numerous pressures on him, including a DeMarcus Ware sack. Chris Cooley's 19-yard TD catch in the first quarter was because of poor coverage. Terence Newman's interception was big with 1:39 left. C maybe a C- here there wasn't enough pass rush Campbell had all day to pick apart the secondary. |
SPECIAL TEAMS | |
D | Nick Folk missed a 51-yarder, and the return team allowed 145 yards in kickoff return yardage. Antwaan Randle El's 20-yard punt return in the fourth gave Washington great field position late in the game. Rock Cartwright had a 36-yard kickoff return to set up a go-ahead field goal to close the half. D yes... SPecial Teams needs help. They are giving up way to good of opening drive field position. |
COACHING | |
B- | The coaches did a good job of adjusting to the Redskins' running schemes and got Owens into the flow of the offense. Dallas exploited the injury-riddled secondary with smart play calling. The running game hasn't rushed for more than 100 yards the last two weeks. B- we would say A- Coach Wade just won 3 yes THREE games against the NFC East in consecutive weeks. |
